FOX Mick Brown SIGNATURE SERIES

JIGGIN STICK
Length 6 ft 6 ins.   One piece.

Casting weight  15 to 50 gms

Retail price: £79.99
I designed this rod to be capable of using the full range of Fox
Chubby Shads, Twin Tails, Creature Spin Shads and Grubs and
most other small to medium sized soft plastics too. Its length
and action have been developed with this primarily in mind.

Thats not all though because this rod is also a first choice for me
for casting Fox Micro jerks, Smaller spinnerbaits like the  Fox
Hornet,Laser and Charger and most of the Fox spoons too!

The rod is fairly stiff and I designed it this way because I find
that 'feel' when jigging is far more important than watching the
rod tip. With this technique being devastating at night, this is an
essential feature. Without any doubt, this rod has tremendous
power to handle even the biggest of pike yet still giving fun
with smaller fish.

A specialist rod with a multitude of additional uses making this
one of the most versatile rods you will find in this range.
A monster pike of 35 lbs 2 oz
taken on a six inch twin tail jig.
This rod is perfectly balanced
with a Shimano Stradic 2500
FA reel or similar.

It's ideally suited to 30 lb
braided lines. In snag free
situations you can step down
to 20 lb.
For jig fishing and general lure
fishing you will need a short wire
trace, 8 - 10" with a link clip for
attaching your lures. I use the Fox
Sea Lead Clips Prod No. SAC014.
For most situations I use 30 lb Fox
Carboflex wire. Smaller lures run
better with a finer wire such as
the 30 lb Fox Easy Twist or 20 lb
in snag free situations.
THE JIGGIN STICK ON TV

You can see the Jiggin Stick in use on the River Severn
in the Total Fishing 2006 series on Discovery Real Time
which I made with Matt Hayes recently . We're fishing for
pike and perch from a boat and theres plenty of action!
All predators love JIGS!
Jig fishing has taken the country by storm over the last five
years. The concept is so simple yet so very effective. A
rubber fish or creature shaped lure is mounted on a hook
that has lead weight moulded around the shank near to
the eye. This weight ensures that the lure is easy to keep
on or near to the bottom and this is a prime 'strike zone'
for pike and other predators, especially in colder weather.
Zander are best targeted near to the bottom at most
times of the year and this has made 'jigging' a deadly
method for that species.
The basic way of working a jig is to bounce it along the
bottom but there is so much more to this style of fishing.
With experience you should discover that simple retrieve
techniques, trolling and vertical fishing make this a very
versatile set up that can be used in a great multitude of
situations.  Read the article I did for Pike and Predator
magazine in Jan 2005 that gives more detail of no less than
thirteen ways of retrieving a jig !
From deep and shallow water, murky and clear water, from
boat or bank, in winter and summer, this lure fishing
method has caught me huge numbers of fish including pike
of over thirty five pounds, zander over thirteen pounds
and three pound plus perch.
